New California Presbyterian Church
Long time church member Nancy Medland is currently serving her second go round as church secretary. She has attended the church since she was four years old and she and her family continue to worship here. Nancy is the backbone of the church keeping the pastor and all members running smoothly.
Tim Davis is the Choir Director and Worship Accompanist. Tim is a freelance musician, piano instructor and worship accompanist currently living in the Central Ohio area. He has an extensive array of experience in keyboard performance, teaching (piano and trumpet) and choir direction. He spent ten years in a boy's choir that travelled extensively throughout the United States, and has toured the world as musical director of The Ink Spots. Tim currently teaches piano to a number of students in the Columbus area, and has taught on the university level. He is the first call local keyboard player for all Broadway tours coming through Columbus and Dayton, and has played for numerous stars, most notably Andrea Bocelli. Tim has been involved in music for worship for about as long as he can remember, and has served as choral director, music director, accompanist, and arranger for many churches in the Central Ohio area. He got his start serving at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lima, Ohio, where his mom served as pianist from 1954 until her death in 2014.
Thank you for finding our website! My name is Earl Dunbar and I welcome you to New California Presbyterian. I am honored to serve in this fast growing community and I hope you’ll come to check us out.
I was born and raised in San Diego, CA. It was in San Diego that I heard a call to ministry soon after graduating from San Diego State University with a Business Administration degree (Major: Marketing). I stayed in San Diego for seminary studies, then it was to Chicago to finish seminary work. After seminary, I have served churches in Dearborn, Mi; Duluth, MN; and Concord, NH. I have also served as an Interim Pastor in Springfield, VA (near Washington, DC), Wilton, CT. (near New York City), and North Easton, MA (near Boston).
While I was in Dearborn, I met my dear wife Marcia-Anne. We have 2 children, Jonathan (who lives in Western Michigan), and James. While we grew to love New Hampshire, we’ll be looking forward to reconnecting with the Midwest and being closer to relatives and friends in Ohio and Michigan.
I LOVE hockey and look forward to becoming a Columbus Blue Jacket fan. You’ll also see me fairly regularly at Ohio State hockey games. I’m also a bit of a “foodie”, so am looking forward to walking around downtown Columbus with my wife checking out different restaurants and scenery. My wife and I both love the Arts, so I hope from time to time you’ll find us at a symphony concert or play. Plus, we are looking forward to checking out various walking trails in the Metro Park system.
At the time I’m writing this, I am living in Marysville while my family is finishing getting everything ready to move from NH later in 2017. I’ve enjoyed living in Marysville so far and figure we’ll end up somewhere in that area when our house hunting is over.
A major reason I was drawn to New Cally is what I think will draw you: our famous “New Cally” welcome. This is a special group of people aiming to grow in following Jesus, serving in our wider community (Marysville, Plain City, Delaware, etc.), and having fun doing so. I pray you’ll join us some Sunday at New California Presbyterian.
Rev. Bougher served as the pastor from 1974-1981 and 1986-2006. On October 4, 2009 he was presented with the title of Pastor Emeritus of the church. He served with passion for the gospel of Jesus Christ, a love of history, and heart for the people placed in his care. He walked alongside this congregation in times of joy, and also times of heartache, speaking wisdom along the way. Phil and his wife Pat are active members of the church and still share their talents and wisdom with the members.
